- The UK has faced unprecedented challenges in recent years caused by the pandemic and Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. By sticking with the plan, the Conservatives have restored economic stability, reduced inflation, boosted wages, created more jobs, cut taxes and increased growth. But there is more to do.
- That is why the Conservative Party’s 2024 election manifesto will set out a clear plan, backed by bold action, to secure a brighter future for families across Stevenage by rolling out the largest ever expansion of childcare, opening a Family Hub in every local authority and reforming the High-Income Child Benefit Charge to cut taxes for 700,000 families, ensuring parents can access the support they need.
- Only Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to deliver a brighter and more secure future for generations to come.
Alex Clarkson has welcomed the launch of the Conservative Party’s 2024 election manifesto, setting out a clear plan and bold action to build a brighter future for people across Stevenage.
In the manifesto, the Conservatives have announced bold action to ensure parents can access the support they and their family need to thrive.
Policies includes rolling out Family Hubs to every local authority, offering a vital set of services and act as a ‘one stop shop’ for families including early language and communication development, mental health support for parents and carers.
The Conservatives will also raise the threshold for the High-Income Child Benefit Charge from £60,000 to £120,000 and end the unfairness of the current system by moving to a household rather than individual basis. This will cut taxes for 700,000 families by an average of £1,500, boosting families’ financial security and giving them more money to spend on the things that matter.
This builds on the Conservatives’ ongoing delivery of the largest ever expansion of childcare. From September 2025, children aged 9 months and over with eligible working parents will be eligible for 30 hours of free childcare until they start school, saving families an average of £6,900 per year. This will remove barriers for mothers returning to work empower parents to make the choice that is best for them, whether that be a career or a family.
Only Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives have a clear plan, backed by bold action, to support families with children to build a brighter future for the next generation while Labour would take us back to square one, making families pay £2,094 more in tax.
Alex Clarkson said:
I know the past few years have been challenging following Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and Covid, and we are now setting out a clear plan to deliver a brighter and more secure future.
Raising children is hard work for any parent, particularly in the first years of a child’s life, and our bold action will support families by rolling out more family hubs, expanding free childcare and ending the unfairness in Child Benefit.
The choice for voters at this election is clear: stick with Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to secure a brighter future for people across Stevenage. Or go back to square one with Keir Starmer and the same old Labour who will put up taxes by £2,094 for every working household.
