Bragbury End has been without a Community Centre for four years after the Bragbury Centre closed in 2018. Stevenage’s Labour-run Council will not give a start date for the construction of a new Community Centre.
Back in 2018, Labour and Lib Dem Councillors voted in favour of the inappropriate tower blocks currently being built in Hertford Road.
Local Conservatives have been holding the Labour Council to account. They are calling for the Council to guarantee and name the start date for the construction of a new Community Centre.
Conservative Councillors are determined that Labour does not use Russia's war in Ukraine, and it's affect on global supply chains, as an excuse and fail to honour their commitment to rebuilding this vital community asset.
In July's Full Council meeting, Cllr Alex Farquharson challenged the Labour leadership to guarantee the building of a new Community Centre. Rather than hearing a straight reply, Labour avoided making a firm commitment to replacing the Bragbury Centre, to much dismay.
Bragbury End deserves a Community Centre and it is appalling that residents have been left without a community hub for so long.
