- Illegal migration is unfair and migration is too high. Small boat crossings were down by a third last year and we have cut net migration by 10 per cent last year but there is more to do.
- That is why the Conservative Party’s 2024 election manifesto will set out a clear plan, backed by bold action, to protect public services for people across Stevenage and build a brighter future for the whole country. The Conservatives will stick to the plan, getting flights to Rwanda off the ground and controlling visa numbers to help bring migration down to sustainable levels.
- Only Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to stop the boats and reduce net migration, delivering a brighter and more secure future for generations to come.
Alex Clarkson has welcomed the launch of the Conservative Party’s 2024 election manifesto, setting out a clear plan and bold action to stop the boats and bring down migration, protecting public services and delivering a brighter future for Stevenage.
As part of the clear plan to stop the boats, the Conservatives are sticking to the plan to get flights to Rwanda off the ground, ensuring those who come to the UK illegally do not get to stay.
The Conservatives have also confirmed they will introduce a legal cap on immigration, giving Parliament control over the number of people that can come to the UK on work and family visas as part of their clear plan to get migration down to sustainable levels. The Migration Advisory Committee will advise government on the appropriate level of migration based on the benefits and costs of migration. The Government will then give Parliament the final say, ensuring the legal cap is set democratically.
The Conservative Manifesto also includes a commitment to increase visa fees and end the student discount for the Immigration Health Surcharge. These reforms will see visa fees increased by 25 per cent, ensuring that those who come to the UK contribute. We will also remove the student discount for the Immigration Health Surcharge.
The choice is clear in this election: stick with the clear plan to stop the boats with Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives or go back to square one with Keir Starmer and the same old Labour Party who will make the UK a magnet for illegal immigration and raise taxes by £2,094.

Our clear plan is already working with small boats crossings down by a third last year and net migration down by 10 per cent last year. We are sticking to the plan, getting flights to Rwanda off the ground and capping the number of people who can come to the UK on work or family routes so numbers are controlled.
The choice for voters at this election is clear: stick with Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to secure a brighter future for people across Stevenage. Or go back to square one with Keir Starmer and the same old Labour who will make the UK a magnet for illegal immigration and put up taxes by £2,094 for every working household.
